Ketchup squirting out of bottle after upside-down?

Okay, so whenever my ketchup bottle is left upside-down it always squirts out when somebody tries to use it. Why does this happen? Is it because of heat or what? I don't see how it can be heat-related, but that's what my dad keeps saying.
